There appears to be a trend happening in the pet world.  We have seen it on cable television and even little clips on local news programs.  That trend is the use of an Animal Communicator.  So what really is an animal communicator?  It does sound like a crazy thing, but so was the idea of broadcasting radio waves through the air and then listening to them in your own living room or for the younger crowd sending information via light waves.  A good animal communicator can really open your eyes to your pet’s world; overnight, radio broadcast opened your home to the big world outside your small one and then again with the common use of the internet.  I have put together some commonly asked questions and the answers to help you understand.

Q:  What is an Animal Communicator and is it different from a Pet Psychic?

A:  The simplest answer to this question is Education.   Animal Communicators typically have a history of animal related education.  That education can range from a full-fledged Veterinarian or Veterinary Technician to an animal Behaviorist, or study programs with established professional animal communicators.  These individuals continue their devotion to animals and learn non-physical forms of communication.  I have a background in Veterinary Medicine with a doctorate in Metaphysics.

Q:  How does this work?

A:  The most direct answer is Telepathy, a non-physical form of communication.  An easy way to understand it is to think about the radio receiver you use.  You cannot see, feel or touch the radio waves but your receiver can perceive the waves and interpret them into a form you can understand.  This is exactly how animal communicators work.  Animals do communicate by sending pictures, feelings, emotions and words.  If an animal works with pictures, I am able to work in pictures; if they work with feelings or emotions, I work with feelings or emotions.  I like to speak the same language your pet speaks.  That way there is less room for misinterpretation.

Q: What can my animal tell me?

A: So many things! Are they happy and healthy?  Is there something bothering them?  Do they like the house sitter, groom, boyfriend, the new dog in the house?  Where were they before they came to you?

Q: What if my animal has a particular problem? Can you tell them what to do?

A: Sure!  I can tell them BUT, because this is a living, breathing, thinking individual with free will they are the one to make the decisions.  Some actions are inherited and natural, because of these facts we cannot expect an animal to be something it is NOT.  However, based on my many years of education, training and daily interaction with animals, I can give you options and explanations.  Sometimes the animal’s environment has to change to achieve the desired result. When I make a suggestion, I consider the animal first and foremost.  Then suggest holistic and conventional options to resolve the problem.

Q. Why have many people come to you for help when nothing else has worked?

A: People are natural skeptics.  I am glad of that, but they get into a position that they feel they don’t have any other option, so they try animal communication.  Most of the time that is all it takes, the next time they will know how great the possibilities can be when using a good communicator, you will consult the pet first in the process.

Q. Do I call you only when I have a problem with my pet?

A:  No.  You do not need to have a problem to call; clients call me when they need to communicate with their pets.  Possibly they are going on vacation, or someone is coming to visit that may be a challenge to the household.  When you want to improve the communication between you and your pet, you call.  It may just be curiosity or wanting to get to know how your pet thinks or relates to you or the world. The animal may be adopted and you are hoping to have a better understanding of their history.  If you think to yourself “I wish I knew what Scruffy was thinking.” You’ll call and get that answer.

Here are some more questions you may be asking yourself:

Q.  Why is my dog afraid of other dogs?
Q.  Is there anything I can do to help my dog not be afraid?
Q.  Why does my dog bark at other dogs on our walks?
Q.  Does my dog understand when I am frustrated with him?
Q. Does my dog know I’m the boss?

When you make an appointment, we can go over your specific questions with your pet.  By interaction and true communication exchanged we can come to a common understanding. As a result the bond between you and your pet deepens and that is the real gift to the relationship between you both.

Code of Ethics for Interspecies Communicators

Formulated in 1990 by Penelope Smith

Our motivation is compassion for all beings and a desire to help all species understand each other better, particularly to help restore the lost human ability to freely and directly communicate with other species.
We honor those that come to us for help, not judging, condemning, or invalidating them for their mistakes or misunderstanding but honoring their desire for change and harmony.
We know that to keep this work as pure and harmonious as possible requires that we continually grow spiritually.  We realize that telepathic communication can be clouded or overlaid by our own unfulfilled emotions, critical judgments, or lack of love for self and others.  We walk in humility, willing to recognize and clear up our own errors in understanding others’ communication (human and non-human alike).
We cultivate knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of human, non-human and interspecies behavior and relationships, to increase the good results of our work.  We get whatever education and/or personal help we need to do our work effectively, with compassion, respect, joy and harmony.
We seek to draw out the best in everyone and increase understanding toward mutual resolutions of problems.  We go only where we are asked to help, so that others are receptive and we truly can help.  We respect the feelings and ideas of others and work for interspecies understanding, not pitting one side against another but walking with compassion for all.  We acknowledge the things that we cannot change and continue where our work can be most effective.
We respect the privacy of people and animal companions we work with, and honor their desire for confidentiality.
While doing our best to help, we allow others their own dignity and help them to help their animal companions.  We cultivate understanding and ability in others, rather than dependence on our ability.  We offer people ways to be involved in understanding and growth with their fellow beings of other species.
We acknowledge our limitations, seeking help from other professionals as needed.  It is not our job to name and treat diseases, and we refer people to veterinarians for diagnosis of physical illness.  We may relay animals’ ideas, feelings, pains, symptoms, as they describe them or as we feel or perceive them, and this may be helpful to veterinary health professionals.  We may also assist through handling of stresses, counseling, and other gentle healing methods.  We let clients decide for themselves how to work with healing their animal companions’ distress, disease, or injury, given all the information available.

The goal of any consultation, lecture, workshop, or interspecies experience is more communication, balance, compassion, understanding, and communion among all beings. We follow our heart, honoring the spirit and life of all beings as One.
